Welcome to the first of many to come… our weekly roundup of the best and most popular news, tips and more for Guild Wars 2. Every week we will be outlining what we believe are the best posts from GW2 blogs around the Internet. These can consist of anything from general news, game updates, tips for any part of the game and so on. This is the first of the series and is for the week of November 10th through the 17th. Let’s get down to it, shall we?
Progressing Gear in Too Soon for GW2?
This week Hunter’s Insight made a really insightful (no pun intended) post regarding the new gear items being added to Guild Wars 2 with the Lost Shores expansion. This article focuses on discussing the addition of the new Ascended gear that was mentioned by Linsey Murdock on the official GW2 blog. While progression is expected in any MMO some believe the addition of these new gear items may have come a bit too early.
Read more by checking out Hunter’s Insight’s latest post entitled, The Lost Their Shit Shores. This is a very opinionated article but many valid points are brought up and is a great read for any diehard GW2 fan.
The Temple of the Silent Storm
Guild Wars Insider brought us a brand new look at the wondrous new PvP map that has come to GW2. They released details regarding bonuses and buffs that are added to players when strategic points are captured and when players get kills. The map is based on the Kodan architecture. The Kodan are the polar-bear-like creatures that are found in a select few areas (the upright polar bears with armor on).
For a better explanation of the new PvP map along with a video tour of the map from Anet member, Johnathon Sharp, be sure to read over GW Insider’s article regarding The Temple of the Silent Storm.
November 15th Patch Notes
As many of you may have noticed a couple days ago a new build of GW2 was released to all players. With this update came many additions (including The Lost Shores content), fixes and other general patches. The new content added included The Lost Shores expansion, a new dungeon called Fractals of the Mists, new rewards for completing dungeons and defeating dungeon bosses, new item rarity called Ascended, new upgrade types known as Infusions and much, much more.
To take a look at all of the finer details of the Nov. 15th patch notes players should make their way over to Guild Wars 2 Guru’s, Update Notes for November 15th, blog post. GW2 Guru goes over each and every aspect of the new update in vivid detail.
Where’d the Tunes Go?
Quite a large number of players have been noting lately that the background music typically found in Guild Wars 2 seems to be either very faint or completely non-existent as of late. Many have been questioning whether or not this is a by-product of the seemingly endless updates that have been coming to GW2 lately. Considering the game has it’s own full-length soundtrack one would think there’d be some tunes while playing in any area of the game.
Members of the GW2 blog, Dragon Season, picked up on the lack of music in-game and decided to further investigate the issue. Their post, Music Issues, guides players to changing certain settings and fine tuning their setup to be able to hear the glorious sounds of the GW2 music while playing the MMO.
The Lost, Lost Shores
Thousands upon thousands of players are yet again frustrated with ArenaNet. Why? Well, because, again, they have failed to make perfectly clear instructions on what you’re supposed to do and where you need to go for The Lost Shores content events. On top of most of the events being bugged like crazy, they are nearly impossible to figure out without assistance. There are several parts to these “one time only” events and many players are finding it very difficult to figure out.
Luckily, Dulfy, a popular MMO guide blog, has come to save the day. Stop by their site and check out their, GW2 Lost Shores events and investigation missions guide, article to find out EXACTLY where to go and what you need to do to complete the events and enjoy the splendors.
Conclusion
