Guild Wars 2 armors are pieces of equipment worn by the characters in order to increase their defense against damages from foes, change the appearance of the character and give attribute bonuses. There are 6 armor pieces that your character can wear: headgear, shoulderwear, headwear, chestwear, footwear and legwear. An aquatic headgear or breathing apparatus is also available for you in underwater battles.

Rare armors can be attained from bargaining tokens with the Dungeon Vendor. Tokens are rewards when you completed the explorable mode in the dungeon. Every race in the game have their cultural armors which are available in their capital cities. This type of armor is divided into heavy, medium and light tiers which means that every race has their own access to the 9 exclusive sets. Cultural armors are level restricted and purchasable using coins.

Customization of GW2 Armors

Newly equipped armor will acquire automatically the dye system of the current armor, or due to the differences in dye channel numbers. Dye channels of each piece of armor is four and affects the different armor parts.

The equipped armor’s color can also be changed by opening the Hero Panel into the Equipment’s Combat View and after doing that, you can choose the Eyedropper icon located above your armor.

Upgrading Components of Your Armor

Every piece of armor has its own slot which can be utilized for armor upgrade components application that grants additional armor bonuses when in combat. Every upgrade component has six bonus levels. For instance, for every Superior Rune of the Warrior equipped to the character, they gain an extra bonus from the bonus list of the Superior Rune of the Warrior. Every piece of the armors were supplemented with the Rune, all the bonuses provided by the upgrade will now be unlocked.

Transmutation of Armors

Armor piece appearance can be combines with another’s statistics through the use of transmutation stones.

Repair of Armor

A repair system for the armors is included in GW2. Every time that the character of a certain player is defeated (after rally failure and being downed), an armor piece is damaged. Once all pieces of armors are damaged, every subsequent defeat of the character will lead to random breaking of armor piece and they will repair it or worse a replacement is necessary. If your character wears a broken set of armor, the piece of equipment will not offer any benefit to your character and they are no match to their opponents.
